I have lived in Petersburg my whole life other than college and the navy. I've owned and run fishing vessels since 1967, and am still active in several fisheries. Cynthia and I own the Beachcomber Inn, and Cynthia and her family own and run Lee's Clothing in Petersburg. So we stay pretty busy. We like to travel, but don't get a lot of time for it. I was still playing competitive mens league basketball at 60, but the league has kind of folded the last few years. I smoke and pickle fish in the off season, and old classmate Bill Olsen compete at that every year for the Sons of Norway trophies. He's not bad for a swede.

All I can say is Petersburg is a great place to grow up. With all the fishing and hunting, school was almost an extra curricular activity. It still is that way, but many more school activities for young people in a great school system. I had a penchant for driving absurdly fast, but I think I eventually outgrew that. Sports in the old gym, sock dances there, proms, and now I have a few pieces of the old floor up in my garage to remind me of those days. Sportland, the fun old hangout is long gone with all the gunch machines. Remember going to the music festival on Coons boat in the bad weather? How about flying around some fogged in island with Lloydy on our way to play ball somewhere? Or Itchy almost pressing his thumb through your shoulder for fun or punishment.
