After Oregon State and Vietnam I returned to Petersburg and halibut fishing. I moved to Seattle in 73 and fished there serving as President of the Deep Sea Fisherman's Union for four years. I left the fishing business in 95 when limited entry resulted in a surplus of fishermen. I moved into the tug boat industry after getting my AB ticket, then studied for a licence and moved into a mate's position. Now I have retired from my last job as chief mate with Dunlap towing. I keep busy studying cosmology and history from Teaching Company courses. I am still writing and hope to finish my book before heading out on the great beyond. In addition I am trying to keep fit and add to my jazz collection. Traveling looms on the horizon as Stephanie nears retirement.

School Story:

I have kept my interest in music having nearly completed a degree in music education. I have a fine collection of big band music that I play on KFSK whenever I get the chance. Hopefully those members of the 1959 Festival Band who are interested can get together in Petersburg to revel in a tremendous accomplishment.

Pets

presently Aurora, the white wonder cat and in memory of Alfie, the black cat with the white moo stash who knew what it is all about.

Diane: Happy birthday! just returned from Ptown and saw Nancy twice. Sold Ruth's house and was taking care of details plus checking on Ruth. The cold should be done when your b day occurs. Neil

Mike: I see you have entered the literary world with your poetry. Good Luck. It is even more competitive that writing novels. I hope to finish mine this coming year, the story of a young woman who wants to go halibut fishing. sound familiar? I finished a vietnam book twenty years ago then shopped it around as hard as i could. i might rewrite it or go the ePublishing route after a pro edit. I have a very good editor in Albequerce (sp) who i was referred to by a writer friend in Palos Verdes Estates down the beach from you. She has recently published the 6th in a series of character Josie Bates, atty, Redondo Beach. Her husband was a superior court judge, subbed for Ito on the simpson trial and worked with the State supreme court. no wonder rebecca (rebecca forster)(husband Czuegler from Torrance). She wrote police procedurals before the josie books)
I assume you are still living in newport beach. we operated ocean going tugs around the two pumping islands off of long beach. got bounced from the fishing business in 1995 when the fishery went IFQs or individual fishing quotas. I didn't qualify for any quota from the schooner i had for a short time.
Anywho mike send me a note...to writervik@gmail.com. i am not fond of using this software. Take Care. Neil Sandvik
