I got suspended from school in 7th grade (Mr Thynes) for using salty fisherman's language in an essay. The trauma has stifled my creative writing ever since.

My first school trip was to Sitka when I was a freshman on the debate team. Jean Reid was my debate partner. The judge, after one of our debates, recommended that I consider the ministry. I thought about how the Petersburg school system had taught me appropriate language.

in 1991 my mother Marilyn Jordan George organized a family reunion in Petersburg for her 70th Birthday. I needed a nice suit or at least a suit coat and decided to buy a new one in Petersburg. Unfortunately none of the clothing stores had one big enough to fit me at 6'3", 330 lbs.
So, I explained at the reunion during my speech why I didn't have a suit and henceforth Petersburg would be known to me as "Little Norway", the home of the "Little Vikings". It actually got some laughs. But then my Uncle Lynn Frink got up and apologized to the clothing merchants in Petersburg. Observing that "Eric probably couldn't find a suit in San Francisco big enough either".

i travel all over SE Alaska at 2-7 knots trolling salmon over 200 days a year.
