 John Silva, Jr.; a resident of Angoon/Petersburg passed away with his wife by him on March 3, 2013 at the University Washington Hospital in Seattle from a short battle with Cancer. John was born in Petersburg, Alaska to the Late John Silva, Sr. and Maria Perez-Silva on May 16, 1949.

John was very quiet and reserved person who took his job very serious working as the Water Plant Operator taking care of the City of Angoon Water; he was looking forward to retirement but instead due to his continued dedication to the Water Plant Operator; he continued to work all the way up until he left for medical care in
Seattle. Mayor Richard George stated: John-so far the only employee that has worked continuously for the City of Angoon for (34) years. During his time of working for the City-One year he received the Operator of The Year Performance Award for all the Small Water Plant operations in southeast.

John was also very proud; he was First Adopted by the Late Mary Willis of Angoon-this was a honor to him to be Adopted by her and given culture name in the Tlingit Land. John later was adopted into the late Hazel (Fred) Bennett Family and this too was a Honor He also acknowledged the Late (Ramona Kookesh) with Honor.

He was survive by his children: Rosita & Husband Irl; Christel; Juanita; John Silva; Grandchildren: William; Tiadola; Makia Silva and Brother Lewie Silva, Sr. & family and Brother Tony Silva and many other family members.

As his children say Farwell to their Father; John's Legacy will live on with them as he adored/loved his Children/grandchildren to Life's fullest and (MAY THE CITY OF ANGOON WATER PLANT OPERATIONS BE IN GOOD HANDS ALWAYS). John will be cremated and later have a Memorial Service scheduled in Angoon on March 28th, 2013; John live his Life in the Land of Angoon and the home that he built with Edward Kookesh, Sr. and was just content to be.
